WE HAVE OFFICIALLY PURCHASED WHAT WILL BECOME, WITH YOUR HELP, THE FIRST EVER CAMP AND COMMUNITY SPACE SOLELY DEDICATED TO LGBTQ+ FOLKS!

OUR FOREVER HOME.

Queer youth should have the opportunity to establish their own home base, and the broader Queer community should have a dedicated space for unity and connection. This exciting development is now a reality. We are thrilled to announce that Brave Trails has successfully acquired what will soon become the world's first LGBTQ+ camp and community space exclusively designed for LGBTQ+ individuals. This is our very own forever home!

Our new home is nestled in Santa Clarita, California, spanning an impressive 54 acres within the Angeles National Forest. With a capacity of over 150 beds, 12 buildings, and fantastic amenities such as a pool, firepit, and an amphitheater, it's a dream come true. Although it's in need of substantial renovation and care, the potential for transformation is boundless.

We are counting on your support to help us make this vision a reality. Together, we'll create a safe, vibrant, and inclusive space that will serve as a haven and a gathering place for the LGBTQ+ community worldwide.

IT NEEDS A LOT OF LOVE.... BUT THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!

WHY A FOREVER HOME?

Since its inception in 2014, Brave Trails has been unwavering in its commitment to establishing a nurturing sanctuary for LGBTQ+ youth through its camp programs. While conducting these programs at various distinctive properties in Southern California, we have consistently faced the challenge of catering to the unique needs of our community while maintaining safety, delivering quality meals, and preserving an exclusive camp atmosphere. Despite the good fortune of discovering picturesque locations over the past 9 summers, the financial burden associated with these spaces has constrained our ability to keep tuition fees affordable and extend more financial assistance to our campers.

The creation of a dedicated permanent home for Brave Trails carries profound significance. It not only promises to alleviate our operational expenses but also empowers us to envision more ambitious possibilities for our community. With a permanent space at our disposal, we can dare to dream bigger and expand our support network, thereby ensuring a sustained, all-embracing, and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ youth for years to come.

Our capital campaign is centered on constructing a sustainable and equitable future for the generations of LGBTQ youth who will follow. Bringing this dream to fruition will require the collective efforts of all of us.

WILL YOU HELP US BUILD THE WORLD'S FIRST CAMPSITE FOR LGBTQ YOUTH?

OUR FOREVER HOME GOALS:

  • Enhance Our Camp Programming: We'll have the capacity to broaden our camp offerings, ensuring that LGBTQ+ youth have even greater access to our programs.

  • Construct Inclusive Facilities: We're committed to creating gender-neutral spaces that celebrate LGBTQ+ culture, champion social justice causes, and promote sustainability.

  • Expand Lifesaving Initiatives: Beyond our regular camp sessions, we'll provide year-round health retreats, educational programs, community-building events, and more, all aimed at making a positive impact on the LGBTQ+ community at large.

  • Pioneer a Natural LGBTQ+ Sanctuary: Introducing the world's first LGBTQ+ nature space, where our community can come together in the great outdoors to celebrate, heal, and experience joy.

  • Lead by Example for Our Planet: Our site will not only serve as a safe haven for LGBTQ+ employment but will also prioritize environmental consciousness and social responsibility, embodying our commitment to doing better for the world.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

With deep appreciation, we recognize the ancestral land upon which we are establishing our future camp and community space. The new property for Camp Brave Trails resides on the traditional territory of the Fernandeño Tataviam First Nation. We acknowledge the profound significance this land holds for the Indigenous peoples who have historically inhabited it, as well as those who continue to do so today. Their traditions, spirituality, and connections to the land have evolved over time in relation to this territory and its diverse inhabitants.

In our commitment to advocacy, we pledge to raise awareness about Indigenous issues, advocate for environmental justice, and amplify Indigenous voices. We strongly encourage all our campers, families, neighbors, and staff to explore and learn more about the Tataviam Tribe by visiting their website at https://www.tataviam-nsn.us
