Brave Trails 2025 Impact

THE MAGIC OF SUMMER 2025:

WHERE COMMUNITY BECOMES POWER.

This summer at Brave Trails was nothing short of extraordinary. LGBTQ+ youth came together to build community, celebrate queer joy, and step into their own leadership—from lifelong friendships to bold expressions of identity. A major milestone was launching our first-ever Southeast session in Georgia, expanding our reach to even more youth.

As we look back on Summer 2025, one thing shines through: community. These numbers represent lives touched, barriers broken, and memories made. Thank you to the parents, donors, and staff who made it possible. We can’t wait to share 2026 dates and applications with you later this fall. Together, we are changing the world by being brave!

TOGETHER WE MADE THIS POSSIBLE:

  • Because of you, 7 weeks of camp transformed lives — with four sessions in California & New York and our first-ever Southeast session in Georgia.

  • We welcomed 388 campers from 39 states and 9 countries, each finding belonging and leadership at Brave Trails.

  • Donor generosity provided $200K in financial assistance, ensuring camp was accessible to youth who needed it most.

  • 141 parents and kids experienced LGBTQ Family Camp in California and Georgia, building affirming memories together.

  • We provided 950+ hours of queer-affirming mental health services to youth in California.

  • Your belief in this mission fueled new adventures, including a queer-focused backpacking trip for 10 campers in the Sierra Nevadas.

  • You’re helping us build the future with continued construction on our forever home—the first-ever summer camp & community space solely dedicated to LGBTQ+ youth.

The focus on queer history and activism is so important for kids who often get pushed to the background in mainstream environments. They don’t have to hunt for queer role models; they are presented with them regularly.

My experience at Brave Trails was incredible. It was the first time I have felt truly seen as a trans person living in the south, and the sense of community and openness there was phenomenal, and something I look forward to revisiting next year.
