MEET THE CLINICIANS

  • As an LGBTQ+ adult, child, sibling, friend, confidante, and therapist, my diverse life experiences and roles inform my approach to therapy that is collaborative and curious. When comfort and trust is established, there is space to identify and deconstruct the messages that we have all received from living in a patriarchal, het/cis/mono-normative society. In my work, I use a holistic approach that is affirming and relational, drawing upon various modalities including narrative, psychodynamic, feminist, liberation, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), inner child/parts work, somatic work, mindfulness, and "geek" therapy. I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ adults and teens, neurodivergent folks, perfectionists, people-pleasers, overthinkers, over/high-achievers, HSPs, entertainment professionals, creatives, and those struggling with attachment wounds or grief/loss. My work is culturally informed and embraces diversity and inclusion; I am LGBTQ+ affirmative, sex/kink positive, neurodiversity-affirming, poly/CNM-affirming, and work from a Health at Every Size lens.

  • Madhvi Trivedi-Pathak (pronouns: they//them) is a graduate of the Community Mental Health program in the School of Professional Psychology and Health at the California Institute of Integral Studies. As an Associate MFT, they have been delving deep into their study of sex, sexuality, and gender to become a certified member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). Their work is grounded in decolonial, transfeminist politics and informed by healing justice, disability justice, and transformative justice.

  • Becker (they/them) is a non-binary transmasculine human with a background in film, television, music, and theater. They started their clinical work with queer and trans teens at Colors Youth Counseling Services and have since worked as an individual and group therapist at Brave Trails as well as Inclusion Staff at camp. They also see individuals, couples, and groups at Felt Psychotherapy Collective under Tamala Poljak, LMFT (they/them). Becker's approach embodies laughter and relational work, building vulnerability between client and therapist to explore the innate heaviness that comes with being alive. They are committed to trauma-informed practice, dismantling white supremacy, uplifting disability justice and neurodiversity, health at every size, and mutual aid.

  • I'm a therapist because therapy saved my life. Through that lived experience, and with education and training, I help clients improve their relationship with themselves and others, and navigate issues related to trauma, gender, sexuality, boundaries, and self-worth. My clients are thoughtful people who have done the best they can on their own and are looking for additional support. They seek to expand their perspective, to feel differently in the world, and want lasting change. Together we'll create that change and I firmly believe in your inherent worth, power, and self-determination to facilitate the shift you seek. My approach to therapy is collaborative and relational, so I tend to be engaged and curious in the therapeutic space, offering observations, asking questions, and sharing any noticeable patterns or connections. Therapy can be understandably challenging, and I find great benefit in balancing difficult topics with levity and warmth. I'm a trauma-informed LGBTQ+ affirmative therapist with specialized training in the exploration of gender, sexuality, and internalized oppression through an intersectional and culturally sensitive lens. I'm also trained in EMDR and am neurodiversity and body liberation affirming. If this resonates, reach out - let's connect!

  • As a trans identified individual, working with LGBTQ+ youth means the world to me! My work is influenced by attachment, feminist, narrative, psychodynamic, and postmodern theories. The therapeutic relationship creates opportunities for clients to discover and experience their relational dynamics and behavioral patterns in real time. Humor, warmth, and play are as much a part of the therapeutic process as the challenges we encounter when faced with moments of growth and exploration. It's ok for therapy to feel hard, it's ok for it to feel fun, just come as you are and we'll build a space of care and curiosity together.

  • When you first start therapy, delving into your concerns can often feel like a complex puzzle, exploring the many pieces and aspects that make up your experiences. As a therapist, I am here to be your collaborator, creating a warm and grounded environment where we can safely explore these pieces.

I am deeply committed to social justice and believe that mental health does not exist in a vacuum. We are influenced by the society and world around us. My therapy approach is rooted in this understanding, acknowledging the systemic factors that impact our well-being.

I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is essential to the therapeutic process. My style is relational, focusing on building a strong therapeutic alliance and being deeply present with you as we work towards your goals.

As a queer therapist, I provide therapy affirming of all genders and sexualities. I am dedicated to creating an inclusive and affirming space.

Currently, I provide queer psychotherapy to LGBTQIA+ youth through Brave Trails. Additionally, I offer my services at a street medicine organization, providing psychotherapy to people experiencing homelessness on the streets of Los Angeles. My areas of expertise include complex PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Substance Use, Personality Disorders, LGBTQ+ issues, gender diversity, neurodiversity, OCD, relationship issues, and life transitions.

  • I am grounded, warm, playful, and authentic. Therapy is a place for exploration, for uncovering, learning, making connections, accountability, and for growth. Every person's journey in therapy looks different; I help people find the strength, tools and clarity to make lasting changes. I help people see and honor their wholeness and find ways to utilize their uniqueness to grow through life's challenges. I utilize expressive arts, somatic techniques, and adventure-based therapies when appropriate. My specialties are complex trauma, grief and loss, chronic pain, traumatic brain injuries, substance use, neurodivergence, gender/sexuality exploration, and identity work. I have over 10 years of experience with youth but enjoy working with people of all ages.

  • I am Allyson Byers (she/her) and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Brave Trails. I specialize in grief and loss, chronic illness and pain, trauma, and identity exploration. I am also passionate about supporting individuals who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, rejecting diet culture, and destigmatizing suicide and self-harm. As someone who is queer and lives with chronic illnesses, I draw from both my professional and lived experiences in my therapeutic work. I also work from a trauma-informed lens, which means I am sensitive to the impact of trauma on yourself and the world around you and seek to understand what has happened to you, not what is wrong with you. You are the expert in your life and it is my role to follow your lead in our work together.

  • My name is Chanel Mucci (she/they) and I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist here at Brave Trails. My background is in early childhood education and gender studies prior to becoming a therapist, and I now hold a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles with a specialization in LGBTQ+ Affirmative psychology. I love helping my clients discover the connection between their minds and bodies. My approach to therapy is warm, trauma-informed, client-centered, and collaborative. I believe that therapy can be an extremely playful and humorous space, alongside being a safe place for inner work and healing. I work to constantly consider and name how various systems at play (white supremacy, capitalism, colonialism) impact the life you live and the work we do. I take the role of earning your trust very seriously, and find it an honor to be part of your journey. Outside of therapy, I love being in nature, hanging out with my cats, and playing my Switch!

  • Dan Romeo-White M.A. enters the therapeutic relationship with a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lens, which prioritizes clients’ agency and identity. They work with individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life, and specialize in queer, trans, and gender expansive experiences.
