Trans Day of Visibility!
🏳️⚧️ Trans Day of Visibility 🏳️⚧️
Each year on March 31, Trans Day of Visibility, communities around the world come together to celebrate the lives, contributions, and resilience of transgender people.
Trans people have always existed. Across cultures and throughout history, trans individuals have been leaders, artists, organizers, caregivers, and visionaries. Today, trans youth continue to shape our future with creativity, courage, and brilliance.
At Brave Trails, we see this every day in the young people who show up at camp, in our programs, and in spaces like our support groups and community events. We see youth discovering language for who they are, building friendships with peers who understand them, and stepping into leadership with confidence.
This year, we are celebrating the many ways trans power shows up in our community:
At the same time, we know that many trans young people are navigating a world where their rights and well-being are being debated and challenged. That is why visibility must also be paired with action.
Here are a few ways you can support trans youth right now:
Affirm their identity by using the names and pronouns they share with you.
Listen and learn from trans voices and experiences.
Advocate for safe and affirming spaces in schools, camps, and communities.
Support organizations that provide resources, care, and leadership opportunities for LGBTQ+ youth.
Speak up when trans people are being targeted or erased.
